Hi girls!
One of the lip balms I promised to review in my Best Budget Pink Lip Balms and Lip Glosses article was this strawberry lip balm from Avon. This also happens to be my HG lip balm. Read on to know why :)
Rs 99 for 4 g. When there’s a discount offer going on you can also get it for as low as Rs 70.
My Take:
Like I said, this lip balm has been my HG lip balm – for over 6 years now! I have been using it since it came in that tub form! The packaging changed to this convenient twist up form a couple of years back. (If you use a product long enough to see it go through a complete makeover, I think you’ve used it for QUITE a while!)
You’ll need a bit of a flashback to know why I love this lip balm so much. You see, I have always had very dry lips that just point blank REFUSE to get hydrated. Even Vaseline, yes Vaseline doesn’t work on my lips. You can imagine what a nightmare it was for me to look for a lip balm that provided even a little bit of hydration to my chapped lips. That’s when I found this lip balm. Till date this is the only lip balm that actually moisturizes my lips. No other lip balm has even come close to how well this Avon lip balm works for me.
It gives a very subtle wash of reddish pink color to my lips. The lip balm has no shimmer. The colour payoff is actually quite mediocre on my pigmented lips, but I’m sure you understand by now that I’m more than willing to let that go! (The swatches and LOTD show like 5-6 swipes of the lip balm!)
Of course, I wish that this lip balm gave more colour to my lips, like the Nivea Fruity Shine Lip balm or the Maybelline Color Bloom Color Changing lip balm (the colour payoff of that is just TOO good to be true, and yet it is true!). Another small issue I have with this lip balm is that it fades without leaving any colour, and about an hour or so after it fades, my lips start to feel dry again so I have to reapply.
Why I like?:
- Very reasonably priced
- Keeps lip soft and moisturized
- Not at all sticky or waxy
- Gives a soft pink tint to the lips
- Does not feel heavy on the lips
- Pleasant fragrance
- Tastes good too!
Why I don’t like?:
- Colour payoff could have been better
- Needs to be reapplied to keep the lips hydrated
- Fades without leaving any tint whatsoever
Rating: 4.5/5
Final word:
As far as lip balms go this is quite reasonably priced and it delivers in terms of hydration. Plus it is tinted and smells incredible! Although I have branched out in the world of lip balms and I now own about 10 different ones, for me this lip balm is irreplaceable :)
Will I repurchase?:
I think this is around my 30th strawberry lip balm from this range! I buy these like 2-4 at a time because Avon has discounts often and so I stock up on these lip balms every few months. There are two brand new ones lying in my drawer as I write this!
Do I recommend?:
If you’re like me and NOTHING works on your lips, then yes I would suggest that you try this out :) for others, just have fun with the different variants, there is nothing bad about these lip balms – they are definitely worth a try.
This lip balm really gives color to my lips..it gives a healthy tomato red shade to my lips…I love this one:))
