Hello beauties.
I know I have done a long disappearing act and no matter what excuse I make, it will not be justified. Cannot tell how much I was missing MABH and all of you. Have seen so much coming in. Well, moving onto today’s review, I have with me Fabindia’s Dew Plum Lip Butter.
We ladies love lip balms, don’t we? And we will always droll at the sight of a new one, however many they are already in our collection. I am a lip balm freak and I love collecting them. One for my closet, one for my hand bag (or may be a couple), one for my office drawer, one for the bed side table, and the list goes on. The only bad part is that they never seem to finish off. This time I grabbed a Fabindia lip butter. Read on to see how it fared.

My Experience:
I have a love hate relationship with Fabindia’s products. I hate the fact that they contain loads of chemicals, mainly the parabens. At the same time, I very well know, whatever means we take, we cannot altogether avoid using chemicals in cosmetics and skincare products. Plus I love the fact, that be it their website or the product description label, Fabindia gives you the full list of the ingredients. So ultimately, its left to the end user to decide whether to buy such product or not and in this way you cannot blame the company for using chemicals in their products and not telling you.
This lip balm is no exception, having paraben and toulene in it along with other organic/herbal ingredients mainly cocoa butter, wheatgerm oil, castor oil, sesame oil etc. This lip butter comes in three variants-
- Fruity Vanilla (orange)
- Dew Plum (green)
- Plum Passion (red)
The lip balm comes in a cute travel friendly transparent glass jar. The texture of this balm is not too waxy but is smooth, i.e., the consistency is maintained whether be it in cold or hot weather. It is green in color (true to its name) but not at all pigmented. The fragrance is waxy which stays on some time.
I was attracted by the name DEW PLUM. It can be applied with the help of fingers like any other lip balm on nude lips, before or after application of lip color. It gives lips a smooth feeling and moisturizes well. It has helped healing my chapped lips as well. Since the formation is not too waxy, it does not give my lips a whitish layer. Instead, it imparts a nice shine to them. This lip butter has helped me immensely during the winters and I am looking forward to its effectiveness in this sweltering heat too.
I was also expecting some SPF factor in this as it is common now-a-days in lip balms and helps protecting lips to sun exposure to some extent. Although this was a major worry while buying this product as I am not much exposed to sun.
PROS:
- Moisturises the lips well
- Less amount is required
- The fragrance is quite adorable
- Not waxy, heals chapped lips, imparts shine
- Travel friendly cute jar
- Inexpensive
CONS:
- Contains parabens
- No SPF
- Availability
- Waxy fragrance
- Fingers have to be digged-in for application
Rating: 4/5
Final Verdict:
As I do not find the cons to be grave in nature, I would definitely Repurchase this product for gifting purpose, as mine would take ages to finish off. If you are a sucker for lip balms, you may give this or its other variants a try.
