Hey, people! Lately, I’ve been reading a bunch of new things on the internet, especially ‘those’ special diet plans for weight gain! (I shared about my weight gain goals yesterday on the Just Like That Vol.4 series!)
There are countless suggestions on the blogs when it comes to weight loss but I had a hard time finding out the perfect diet routine for me, to gain some extra pounds. Weight gain is indeed a tough task for people like me. (who have an insanely fast metabolism!) But nothing is impossible! Ain’t it?
I managed to shortlist a number of food items that I’m going to consume in the next days. And the one that took a forever place in my diet is ‘Banana’! According to bodybuilders, it’s the best fruit available on the planet for weight gain. I always loved eating bananas, though I don’t eat every variety. Being an athlete, it was my favorite fruit when I used to go for my practice everyday. One fruit – instant energy!
Only 3 left right now! (After mom’s dinner!)
Banana Island!
While I was reading more on how bananas could aid weight again, I came across this thing called ‘Banana Island’! Banana Island is where you get to see beautiful trees bearing lovely sweet banana fruits around you with the beach; where you can relax yourself forgetting the world! Alright, that was a joke. A banana island is nothing but a diet consisting of bananas.. and ONLY bananas! This applies with any other fruit as well. Like a Mango Island! But you should make sure that the fruit has enough calories; if not that can do more bad than good!
Coming to the Banana Island! Having bananas for a week or two or even more can help detox your body; and it helps weight loss! People eat more than 10 bananas each day on a Banana Island diet and it WORKED for them! Results were weight loss and a clearer skin. They also shared their experiences on how they felt more active, got better sleep etc. (You can read more about this on the internet!)
This got my curious, but keeping in mind that I’ve nothing to do with weight loss, I’ve altered the Island thing according to my needs. We technically cannot call it a banana island now since I’m not going to consume ONLY the fruit but I’m of course going to include a LOT of bananas to my diet than I ever did!
From tomorrow (that is Saturday) I’m going to have at least ten of these delicious yellow fruits in addition to my daily diet in order to get a massive calorie boost. Not only that, I also get to enjoy softer skin. (Will I really be able to feel the difference in a week? Have to see!)
My Banana Diet!
Important: I’m only going to take full ripe bananas (you should too!) and since they’re rich in fibre, I’m going to increase my water intake as well. At least two litres a day! If possible, three.
I’m asking dad tomorrow to get me two dozens of fresh, ripe bananas from the nearest market. I’m going to refrigerate them so that they stay fresh at least for two days. (Chennai summer is spoiling all my food!) I shall be updating my results after a week from now! If you would like to go to the Banana Island with me, do join me here! For weight gain, do as I follow – eat up to ten (not less than 5) bananas for a week along with your daily diet; if you’re aiming for weight loss, go for a complete banana diet for a week.
Remember, you’ve no limits. You can eat as many as you want; till you feel full! Don’t starve yourself. Bananas contain a good amount of carbs, a great amount of fibre (good for digestion) and other nutrients. If you feel you cannot manage only with bananas, include fresh greens and raw food to your diet. Try to avoid cooked food items but if your taste buds are too demanding, you can have some; but no spicy food as you’re in a detox diet. Cooked spinach, dal, sprouts, cilantro are some good options.
My Current Weight : 44 kg (97 Pounds!)
My Skin & Eyes : Dehydrated due to lack of drinking water; bad sleep and all that!
My Expectations : I honestly have no big expectations as this isn’t something in which I’m putting all my effort. Eating bananas is no burden for me as I love the fruit already. However, I’m still expecting to gain at least a pound. Other than my diet, I’m also trying to do some workouts at home! As far as my skin is concerned, I’m going to get a bit greedier. I want a visible change; a smooth, clean looking skin! (After all, it’s a detox! Let’s forget for a while that I’m going to snack a lot too!)
Workout time!
Is my hair getting longer!?
If this diet workout for me, then I’ll be continuing the same for a long time till I achieve my goal weight! I can’t be more happier since it is also going to benefit my skin (and hair?!) Let me update you the results after a week on this! Stay tuned! ♥
P.S: I’m neither a dietitian nor someone who can suggest you diet routines. I’m simply sharing my experience on the blog. If you’re unsure, please check with your doctor before you make changes to your regular diet! All the very best!
That should work in my expectations too. My sister swears by this remedy and she proved it as well.
But, I need to know whether you are taking large bananas or the small ones. :(
I’ve been taking the large ones, Sana! :) For some reason, I don’t like the smaller varieties.
Good luck on the banana diet Lancy.
Thank you, Sangeeta!
I’m on a similar diet, Lancy :) I add a few more fruits to my smoothie for I’m 42 kgs :)
Add a few almonds (soaked in water overnight with the skin unpeeled) while blending the bananas. Almonds have Vitamin E. That’ll give you clear skin and also add a nutty flavour to the shake :)
Hey Nupur! Can’t believe you’re at 42 kg. I wish you a successful weight gain journey! :)
P.S: I shall definitely include the almonds.
Banana island? Sounds so interesting! I wish you get desired results :)
It indeed is interesting, Mariyam. Thank you! :)
Hey good luck Lancy :) Banana is really a great fruit for weight gain, I personally experienced.
Thank you Anamika :) How much weight did you manage to gain?
I’ve never heard of the one before. Interesting!
I am late here, but I am curious now! I am going to try this! :) Thanks Lancy!
