Good day people!
I am starting this fun series today where I’ll be sharing the pictures of recipes I cook! I have this slightest worry inside my heart for NOT doing food blogging. I sometimes even think about starting a Youtube food channel but then, time is a big issue! My schedule doesn’t let me do that!
If you are a regular reader, you must be knowing how much I love cooking! It is the most de-stressing activity for me after a hectic day! This volume is random and hence, I will be sharing it whenever I feel like doing the same – on the weekends, weekdays or whenever I cook! Hope you enjoy the volume!
1. Homemade Pasta (Noodles?)
One fine night, when I was tempted to have Maggi noodles, I tried this recipe at home! And it turned out quite good. My mom was strongly against me eating noodles or any packed food because that was the time I just got recovered from chickenpox! She did not want me to eat anything spicy and I had no way but to skip Maggi and this recipe helped a lot to control my Maggi cravings! I only used a pinch of cayenne pepper with lots of pepper and turmeric!
Note: If you are wondering.. Yes, I made the pasta with flour and egg.. and a knife! No water used except for when I cooked it before adding the seasonings. Though not perfect like storebought pasta/noodles, it turned out in decent shape! But believe me, the taste was excellent!! I then tried an egg-less version for my dad and sister; sadly it turned out to be a failure! Sheesh..
2. Tomato Pickle and Fried Cashews
I prepared these for someone and hence, they are placed in the box – ready to be packed and dispatched! I first fried the cashews in ghee and then added the spices! It tasted super crunchy and spicy when it was hot! The tomato pickle is my favorite! This small container of pickled tomatoes consists of 25 juicy tomatoes and spices! It stays fresh for a month in refrigerator but we empty it in a week here! It goes well with rice and ghee! My dad loves to eat it with dosa, idly and other breakfast recipes! I also prepared a spiced dhal powder for which I don’t have a picture to show you now. Will share it later!
3. Fried Eggs and Fried Soya Chunks
These are my most favorites to eat along with milk rice! (for dinner!) I eat milk rice all the time which you may find unusual but it is my very favorite recipe since childhood! Tommy loves it too! When I had to eat less spicy foods after chickenpox, these were my first two options. I fried the eggs in one teaspoon of oil with pepper, salt and a bit of cayenne pepper. (Red chilly powder!) I cooked the soya chunks in the same way but after boiling them in hot water for a minute or two!
4. Peas Coconut Masala Curry
I was gifted an induction stove last week and I instantly cooked this recipe in it as I wanted a good curry to eat with rice and also with chapati! I asked my mom to take rest and took care of the cooking works that day! Everybody in the house loved this recipe! It contains onion, tomatoes, peas, cauli flower and seasonings! I added pure coconut milk and garam masala to achieve the heavenly, creamy flavor!
I also prepared a quick and simple potato fry recipe with this curry!
5. Garlic Pickle
This is my first recipe with garlic as the main ingredient! I’ve seen my mom and aunt making garlic based south indian curries. But I never liked garlic and its smell. However, the taste of this recipe impressed a lot more than the tomato pickle’s! This has tomatoes as well, but the main ingredient is garlic. When cooked a long time, the raw smell disappears and the garlic delivers a lovely flavor! I eat it with rice, chapati and dosa! You just need patience to peel the garlic cloves.
Note : I don’t have the picture of this recipe! :( But it looks exactly like the tomato pickle (with garlic bits floating on it!)
I hope you enjoyed the pictures! I look forward to share more volumes with you as it really feels good to write about food! :)
